Hydrogen is also a huge pain to store. It’s really hard to keep it from leaking.

What, so if Meta can throw enough money at it, they can just hijack the project?

Range isn’t the only factor, though. Noise tolerance is another significant one, and if mesh networks take off, I think a lot of long distance radios and other devices will struggle in dense locations. Imagine tens of thousands of overlapping devices with no real capacity to coordinate resource sharing so they’re all just shouting over each other.

Governments would love a data center to be suddenly filled with digital persons that haven’t paid taxes so far.
Only if there are incomes to tax. If they’re just slaves the government is obligated to step in on behalf of, that’s a lot less appealing.

No, they declare they’re doing it in the ToS but bury it so virtually nobody actually sees it and knows about it.

What’s the catch, why don’t we use those? I/O speed? Limited read/write cycles? I imagine it sucks if you need files on opposite ends of the tape.

It’s not saying that Republicans are voting Democrat, though. It’s just saying there’s a surge in votes for Democrats in rural areas that are traditionally conservative. That could mean that Republicans are voting for Democrats, but past evidence suggests it’s far more likely to just be latent Democrats actually bothering to go out and vote in areas where they’d traditionally get drowned out.

Is it really defeatism, though? Simply not voting at all could turn tides. And it’s not like Republicans haven’t proven them right again and again and again and again. Republicans are conditioned HARD to never, ever consider voting for a Democrat.

Or the CEO is lying to hype his product.

Oh don’t worry, nowhere on the globe is short of idiots.

Yeah, I’m not sure how to feel about it. On the one hand, it’s obviously wasteful. On the other, if dickheads get their money wasted enough, maybe they’ll knock it off. Probably not enough happening to make them stop, though, so probably just a waste.

just skim the 20 or 30 headlines, open interesting links in a new tab or check some comments and you are informed about what is currently happening in that niche
I think this is a big part of why they’re trying to kill it. They want to trap you in an endless doom scroll. They don’t want you to be able to quickly see there’s nothing new and get out. Everything you look at needs to be another attempt to ensnare you and shove ads in your face.
Damn, I knew it had problems with room stability, but that’s kinda completely ridiculous.
I think the best option for self-hosters who don’t want too much headache from their email is to host the email yourself, but send your emails through a relay other providers actually trust. It sucks to get so close to full control and give it up, but if you’re like me, you send almost no email, so there’s almost nothing at all to see for the relay, and all your received mail still comes straight to your server.
