Depending on the use case, this is solid advice. I’d suggest checking on eBay for older, used machines that that are still pretty powerful compared to a Pi and are also quite cheap.

It’s funny the Democrats won on the promise to clamp down on big tech given their history. Next election cycle, I bet the Republicans will be running on regulating the fossil fuel industry.

Even if it did work, Adobe’s legal team will obliterate them. I’m also not sure about the legality of using it for any paid work. It’s a moot point, though, since it’s slop, and better off using a cracked version that at least works.

Jira’s AI is mainly useful for asking how to use their shitty UI, like where the hell did that button get moved because I can’t find it anymore.

Eh, these articles are basically, “well-known gobshite once again spewing shite from his gob. Everyone be outraged.”

Nice try with “Sam Altman Crows” instead of the usual “Sam Altman Says”, but I still didn’t read it.

Just cut down on the avacado toast.

Exactly. The only people willing to pay premium prices for privacy instead of surrendering their data to surveillance capitalists are people with a low tolerance for bullshit.

Autonomous cars sound cool in theory, but I’m a techbro-phobe.

stop lovingly handcrafting all our code
I guess they’re headquartered in Switzerland, but have American values. It’s a shame, because having privacy engineered like a Swiss watch makes a lot of sense.

I must be off my game today. A headline started with “Sam Altman Says” and I accidentally read the whole headline.

I use the Orion browser on iOS with uBlock Origin and the when I go to one subreddit I still lurk, it locks the whole browser telling me to use the mobile app such that I can’t scroll to kill the tab and have to close the whole browser. If I want it to work, I end up having to begrudgingly use Brave.

I ran Konstakang LineageOS on a RPi4 a few years ago, but the hardware decoding didn’t work well. It might work better now. I will probably use Bigscreen once it’s available in an immutable or LTS distro, but for now, I’m using Pegasus frontend on a Linux mini PC. It’s clunky, but kind of gets the job done. Jellyfin desktop and VacuumTube work ok, but I mainly use it for games anyway. I really want Linux HTPCs to be worthy of a daily driver, and Bigscreen is the best hope as you said.

I can’t think of a better word to describe this guy than the Irish word, gobshite.

Yeah, if I end up switching providers, I’m bringing my own domain next time so at least my email addresses can stay the same.

Reminds me of shitty Windows 8 laptops back in the day. I don’t want to touch the screen—it has a keyboard and a trackpad.
The Diversity Day episode of the office comes to mind as something matching this exact description that has been excluded on streaming platforms.
