Most of the UI complaints can be solved by using a different front-end. I guess that should be emphasized more when trying to convince people to try it. If any of those people never used old.reddit, I doubt they’ll like reddit either if that was the interface.
Cash and in-person transfers would be enough for me. I’m only on facebook because I find a lot of great stuff on marketplace, and I always do local meetups and pay in person. I wish there was a better platform.
Oh it was probably a different thing maybe, but it had the same concept of creating custom feeds hence being called Loom.
I haven’t had the chance to check it on desktop yet, but if it has columns, I’m sold! My pet peeve with most frontends is that they waste space on desktop. That’s why I’ve been using voyager because it has a 2-column layout option that sorta uses more screen real estate. I’ll definitely check it out on desktop asap!
Edit: Finally got to check out the browser UI. It looks great and all, but I did see the About page and this largely being vibe coded without reviews. I’ll have to pass for now, but I do think it looks nice and I wish more custom frontend UIs cared about the desktop experience.
I remember trying out a fediverse mobile client called Loom. It has since been taken off of testflight on IOS. I wonder if it was the same thing. The UI does look similar. It looks great! It would be amaz if it can be optimized for desktop too.

The problem is there is no single switch to turn it off. You have to go to each nook and cranny in the settings and toggle a switch. And if you miss anything, that 20 something gigabytes of space doesn’t free up. I’m all for local AI features, but it should be a one toggle switch to turn it off or remove it.
The reddit user featured in the article had to create a script to automate it and keep it off.

AI security reviews is that they’re fantastic at finding faults, but they always find a list of things to complain about.
Same experience for me. At work, I always review the output because a lot of times it finds something that can be noteable but not relevant to the scope of what is being reviewed. Even with guardrails like instructions to not go beyond the stated scope, a human absolutely still needs to read and check the findings at the end.

Yeah, OpenAI released Astra just a couple of weeks ago, then around last week they released Sol 6, which is around half the price of Astra. So you have around the same level of “reasoning” at half the price. They will never turn a profit, at least for the next several years or so.
Yeah, .zip gives its users full autonomy to block instances/users as they see fit, which is why I’m on their instance.
Probably not if what they say is true that they anonymize your queries. Not sure if they themselves keep a log though. A VPN and using a container tab or incognito can help you with that, assuming you don’t use a logged in account.
