The main reason I picked .zip was the lack of defederation. There’s definitely content here I don’t want to see and do hide, but I’m suprised how many people here (Lemmings? Piefeddies?) are happy to delegate that task to an instance admin.
It’s my role to determine what content I see, no one else’s.

Near the start of the meeting, Yen said, “I want to acknowledge myself, personally, that there was a communication failure on my part and there are many things that probably could and should have been communicated differently, and this is something that I’ll have to reflect on and improve over time. So I will do that.”
“So what does that mean going forward? Going forward, I’m still going to push,” he added.
Uh. This news makes everything about 0% better.

I’m not at all suprised he thinks that, but I dunno. I am a bit suprised he said it out loud.

Sometimes I worry that maybe the state doesn’t have our best interests in mind 👉👈
I hopped around a bit before landing on .zip, and they definitely strike the right balance. I just want admins to defederate spam. Anything beyond that is curation, which is solely my job.

Noooooooooo I’ve been so excited for Ladybird 😭

Not leaving the internet wholesale, per se, but I’m guessing the majority of people in the Fediverse are functionally trying to roll back to a pre-2020 internet.
That’s certainly why I’m here.
Are all the people here recommending Bookwyrm and NeoDB actually using them?
I just spent a solid chunk of time importing and correcting various accounts to NeoDB and Bookwyrm and they are both petty frustrating to use, especially with how much content is missing, mislabeled, or duplicated. Plus, they don’t seem to federate with each other (understandable, in so far as very few parts of the Fediverse actually federate well together [unlike, perhaps, Mastodon and mbin]) or even support exporting/importing data from each other.
