Elections being postponed during wartime is pretty standard. If he won’t voluntarily leave office when the war’s over then we can talk about it not being a democracy.

            Palestine this year for example.

UK, France, Canada, New Zealand during WW I or II.

Lebanon, Ethiopia I think both this year.

Kuwait, Cyprus, in the 90s, South Korea in the 50s.

Well… yes? Wars are (thankfully) pretty rare, and they’re about as extreme as circumstances get.

Outright war has been pretty rare for most western countries at least. Like, when was the last time you had to dodge bombs? I can tell you that my country for example hasn’t been invaded in my lifetime (mostly because we joined NATO in the early 00s). Suddenly being under attack would be pretty extreme circumstances around these parts.

Also, Palestine hasn’t held elections in 2 decades and are only now finally planning a new general election in 2027. It is quite curious I’ve never heard someone on .ml criticize them for it whereas Ukraine often catches shit for it. Which, sure, Palestine has it much worse, but then 2 decades vs 2.5 years (so far) is also a big difference.
