1·29 days agoI am not prepared to make a new account, because fuck Reddit. If you try to browse without one, you immediately get a popup telling you to log in or create an account, so I don’t even do that any more.

Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit is killing RSS feeds and ending public API access because of AI botsEnglish
4·28 days agoThat also means there’s a strong incentive for the remaining human users with two brain cells to rub together to not provide anything for the scraping bots to use. Certainly not for free.

2·29 days agoLong story short: if a company is running smoothly and serving customer’s needs, customer support should be minimal. There’s a reason Meta is so swamped with support calls.

2·29 days agoIt’s useless if you can’t access it without an account, though, and they’re banning accounts left, right and centre over the stupidest reasons.

1·29 days agoI don’t hate Reddit, but it seemed to hate me and banned me for the most spurious reason.
They do seem to be making some baffling decisions against their own interests, though.

35·29 days agobecause of AI bots
Is it because they want it to be only a.i. bots, because that seems to be where it’s heading by making it more and more hostile to humans.

4·29 days agoWhich seems to be the case in the op. I say it’s 100% on the people trusting Meta with any of their information, let alone anything essential and apparently not keeping backups. Baffling ineptitude on display there.

If you’re putting all your eggs into one basket that’s owned by someone else, you deserve everything coming to you. People who use Facebook as their only internet presence for their business are fucking idiots.

Technology@lemmy.world•New Jersey fines data center $1.1M after drone pics expose 62 gas generatorsEnglish
1·1 month agoFines are just a cost of doing business. There needs to be criminal charges and real consequences on the people making the decisions, and shutting down those generators until they meet regulations.

And permanently banning anyone that says anything remotely like what the advertisers don’t like.
