This was an interesting series of shorts. The bouncing screen edge overlay and the use of PDF made me chuckle. Very nostalgic.

Thirty-odd years after it was first ejaculated into the world, PDF still remains the demon threat vector for payloads that just won’t die.

Phone thickness is the excuse, but adtech is the reason. Just look at how camera lenses are handled.

Forcing everyone to use Bluetooth means you’re more likely to leave it permanently enabled. And that means a lot more data for adtech. All those beacons in shopping and urban areas make population-scale measurement trivial.

At this stage in the game, I’d not be surprised to learn that Flock’s database is stored on an unsecured cloud instance with password123 or sithlord as the sole security between it and the world.

FTA: After being told no, Anthropic are suggesting, with a straight face, use of robots.txt to let them know what they can and cannot slurp for free. The same file that has existed for many years and which, famously, has been ignored by their crawlers from the very beginning.
