Buy! Buy! Buy!

US police was using magic wands to detect drugs at schools and mark lockers that need to be searched. AI is not that strange.

Yes, just use Bluetooth. Or cut the speaker off completely from internet on router level and lose some functionality. Some tools are not compatible with security/privacy.

Seeing comments from people that have one of those on lemmy reminds me that not everyone here is a tech-savvy person and/or knows/cares about privacy.

Marketing is excluded.

This wouldn’t make it to the top 20 issues with AI for me.

I couldn’t tell it’s AI because it’s such a basic take I stopped reading after the first sentence.

Yes, Democrats will punish them 😂

Nation states are over, corpo states are the future. Deal with it.

OK.

I was writing about something similar about 20 years ago (not that anyone read it), not in the context of AI but recommendation algorithms. Even before current generation of “AI” people were relying on algorithms more and more to decide what movie to watch, what music listen to, where to go on holiday, what to eat, what to buy, whom to date. I was imagining those algorithms and optimizations slowly taking over and making decisions automatically for people. “The algorithm” would automatically apply for a new job for you, rent you a new apartment, book your holidays and people would just trust that those are in fact the best decisions for them. It looks like with AI we’ve taken another step in that direction.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. I haven’t check if that option is in prowlarr yet.

It is, I’ve seen it. People upload .exe files pretending to be an episode day before it’s release. Prowlarr will find those and start downloading.

1 minute every ~100 years, 60 minutes in an hour. Why 1000? 🤷

Yes, you’re reading this right. In a 50-100 years the difference between UTC and UT1 will grow to one minute. In about 6000 years it can be even one hour and we will have to change our schedules.

Everyone says tailscale but if you don’t want to setup an account with google or Microsoft login, Netbird is the way to go.

What’s using all this power? I have PhotoPrism, *arr stack, MeTube, nginx, Jellyfin, Syncthing, Vaulvarden, mongoDB and couple of smaller things and it’s all running on a single laptop with a tiny RAID. It is all this data storage? I have <10TB so this looks like the biggest difference.

Bing Bing! Bing! This is the correct answer.
Everyone was hyping AI, the stock went up, they got richer. They push AI search to inflate the bubble. They will not lose a cent when it all collapses. They will buy more stock and get even richer eventually.
