Oh fuck I knew there was an easier way. Ive already gone ahead and created it. I did wireguard with navidrome then for music requests they have to sent a message on signal and for deleting they have to add a song to a playlist called delete. And thats the clean part on the backend its messy lots of python scripts with hardcoded api keys user’s and paths.

They are mostly set in their ways music wise so once I have 95% of their music which ive already done via Spotify cloning. It shouldnt be to many individual requests. I dont know I think saying !music chapel roan expectations and then having it show up a few mins later isnt to bad of a UX.
But yeah I don’t know how else to make it better. It can never be “search and find any song” like Spotify. I did look into writing a plugin to hook it to soulseek but it didnt seem like it would be doable at my.level.
Is navidrome hardened enough to expose to the internet? i think my sister would like to use the sharing function which is currently locked since its only available inside our lan
Ive spent all day working on a way to move my family off Spotify.
Ive settled on navidrome behind wireguard and a signal chat where they can request music. The requests are filtered through AI to format it before they are fed into sksld to be downloaded and moved into the respective family members navidrome library.
Will it work, I’m not sure but ive spent so much effort and I’m gonna be sad if they dont even try it out.

I have high trust in my government not to abuse the knowledge and as much as I’d love to live in a world with a truely anonymous internet there are just to many people taking advantage of that anonymity and it makes platform moderation extremely tedious. I fully believe if you say something unhinged like “im gonna kill my ex wife” cops should de anon the account and be at that persons door to arrest them.
My ideal internet model is a two tiered internet. One where everyone is authenticated and an anonymous one where nobody is. If you want to whistleblow or communicate safely you are free to do so and the main Internet can be cleaned up of bad actors. For actual people who spam and stuff thats annoying but not illegal they be exponentially temp banned from that site. No perm bans if you can only have 1 identity. I’d still want people to have multiple accounts I might have one with my real name one with an alias the site and other users would have no idea but if I said I was going to do a terrorist attack or something both my accounts would get banned and I’d get arrested.
Sure I have no issue authenticating with government services. I think there are to many bad actors on the internet for a lot of the libertarian principles to hold up. 1 person 1 authenticated or multiple accounts tied to the same authentication is a good system and saves mods and users blocking the same people over and over.
The power cost isnt worth running a server 24/7. I dont want to invest in redundancy or storage space for a social media site. I dont want to have my account linked directly to my home ip for privacy and security reasons. I’d rather use pooled resources from the local instance and donate $20 every now n then.

Firefox already had pretty good policy management. Better than chrome safari. Edge has a lot built in but us still missing some options.
I’m not sure what improvement this will provide. I think they’re just offering it because chrome has it’s own paid enterprise offering.
Charge for every use of it but keep it Foss. Aseprite charges $30 and most people pay but some cheap cunts(me) compile it from source. I’ll pay eventually I’m still deciding if its a useful tool or not.
