Yeah. I’m so done with Apple.

First of all, readability is garbage, even with all the “effects” turned off. All of the distortions and movement distract from the task that you’re trying to accomplish. Rather than bringing “delight and surprise” to the user, they bring frustration and a big sigh because they’re just so fucking unnecessary. Actions like sliders take more effort to do now, too. And if you do turn the effects off, the interface looks like garbage. Things are out of proportion and out of alignment and getting cropped weird.

Secondly, there are so many graphical inconsistencies and bugs in the interface. It would take me a long time to go through them all, obviously, but as I type to you right now, even the autocorrect suggestions are a goddamned mess.

I’m literally a professional graphic designer who has been studying design and interaction for 30 years. There is a science to it. And they’ve completely lost it over the last couple decades. Say what you want about Steve Jobs, he knew what worked.

Brave’s always been shady.

It’s not about “thinking for yourself” it’s about good human interface design.

HOWEVER - with this new “Liquid Glass” bullshit, they have completely lost it. The latest iOS is complete garbage. One of the many reasons my next phone will not be Apple. It will be a Linux phone. Period.

Just looked into posteo. Great pricing (1 euro/month?) and they’ve got encryption. And organic vegetarian lunches!

I’m testing out tuta and infomaniak. Since I don’t care all that much about encryption, infomaniak is looking good, in my opinion.

Every union needs to unionize.

Did you see the part where their revenue was down because fewer ads were being served because people are using their stupid AI summaries instead of searches? God, these people are short-sighted.

Yeah I’m at that point now too. Only issue is storage. I want to move my entire Gmail inbox but it’s too big for the free plan. Might have to cough up some dough if I can’t find a better alternative.

Another interesting tidbit: “Most banks have authorized or are moving in the direction of allowing read-only access, which should allow agents to see customer financial information without taking action.”

Imagine if AI forces more and more services to require in-person interaction to authorize transactions and things… AI brings back the bank teller! AI creates traditional jobs! That would be ironic.
