No matter how good AI gets, how will a vibe coder maintain the code base? Or keep it up to date with the latest software it works with?
If it gets to the point where a vibe coder can ask for the ai to update the code for him and it works perfectly, then I can guarantee the vibe coder will lose access to the AI. Capitalism will step in and the rich will keep it exclusive so they can turn a profit with entirely ai run companies selling ai made digital products and software.
It’s already happening to an extent. To get any real use out of it you have to pay to use it. Grok went from limited free use and unlimited paid, to extremely minimal free use and limited the paid tier to the extent of the old free tier, made a higher paid tier and limited that too. As soon as exclusive licencing deals with big corpos start happening, regular people using it effectively will be a thing of the past. Except as an ad platform of course.
I agree. Ai is good at churning out code quickly, and can be a helpful tool to speed up production. But without a dev behind it that knows what they’re doing the only “quality” control is “does it work? Yep, ship it.” Zero understanding of how or why, no ability to maintain the code or make edits.
My partner is a software engineer and describes using it as managing a junior. It’ll do the busy work, but you have to check the code, clean it up, and make it actual work in the context of your project.
Personally as a 3D artist, vibe coding annoys the shit out of me. So many helpful looking plugins, none of which work quite right when you install them, and only work on one specific version of blender. No chance of being updated for the new versions, making it pointless to add it to my workflow. And they’re charging money for that shit so now I can’t even buy plugins that would be useful to me with confidence anymore.
Vibe coded slop will never be as good as human made, no matter how good ai gets if the vibe coder doesn’t understand the code.

The whole policy is both stupid and poorly implemented. The government should have supplied us with a way to verify our age through official means, and a way for the company to confirm it without us giving a hundred different third parties our facial scan or government ID. We already have the myID app which is used to verify our identity for government services. But no, we’d rather set up honey pots for data breaches. Many of which have already happened.
I tried to browse a sale on epic Games last week and ran into age verification just trying to look at games in the store. I guess ignoring the fact that I already have R18 games installed. Tried to upload ID and it kept saying there was an issue. No explanation or anything I can do to fix. I’m 32 for fuck sake.
Tried to contact support and ended up with a fucking llm which told me I needed to clear my cache and restart my computer. Had the nerve to say “you don’t need to wait for a support member to reply” when I told it to connect me to a human. After swearing at it, it finally put through an email for me. The reply was in broken English with zero punctuation or grammar. Didn’t bother replying and just decided that was the last time I touch epic games.
But regardless, VPNs still work to get around it with minimal trouble for me. It’s just dumb all around.
I had a 3DS back in the day and that thing gave me a headache and made my eyes hurt, even as a kid. I was annoyed they made me buy it to play the new games when I was just turning the 3D off anyways, and still had a perfectly functional DS.
