That’s sad. What country?

Interesting… what country if you don’t mind my asking?

So surprise us??

First, he specifically said “every institution by default expects you to have gmail.” Not requires a known domain. So I asked for an example.
Regarding your experience, I’d say that’s still very, very rare. Certainly not “every institution” like OP claimed, and probably not even common large institutions. I’d be interested in an example of even one of those. Rejecting specific temp email domains is certainly something some sites do, but as someone that has a couple unique domains that I’ve used for years, large companies requiring Gmail or rejecting custom domains is not something I’ve experienced thus am curious about a specific example of such claims.

Can you name one? Email, yes. Gmail though?

If they maintain and update their firmware, which they’re notoriously bad about doing.

I have 3. Unfortunately I’ve learned they’re awful about maintaining and updating their firmware. They’re functionally pretty good, but they stop providing updates to older models quickly. I won’t buy again.

They’ll still allow AI bots. Only the ones they authorize though. Without them their paying customers will realize how many people have left.
Might be wrong, but if it’s wrong in a way that hurts you when they sell your data you might still regret it.
For instance GM sold driving data they gathered through OnStar and insurance companies used it to raise prices on drivers they learned were speeding.
I’m waiting for health insurance companies to do something similar with AI chat data.
