Is it really ironic though? Personally, I never believed UEFI’s primary purpose had anything to do with security. “Linux is a cancer”, remember?

“Defense” Contractor? The 20th Century called, they want their “Woke” terminology back. These guys contract with “The department of War” now.

Agreed. But Fyi, I’m not a home user, I own a small business. We have to train employees on Collabpra and other open source tools. Its not that hard. We have tons of collaborative, shared documents that our clients interact with. Cybersecurity is a thing, but its not all that difficult to not be slave, or involuntary contributor to the dark side.live by your principles or capitulate. I know which choice I’ll make. I also know that 90+% of people wouldn’t even consider the extra burden of defining, much less living on principles. That’s so sad.

What a bunch of weak ass removed. I did it a few years ago. I’m on Nextcloud and collabora. I spend a lot of my life in spreadsheets. In their defense, collabora’s choices when it comes to key commands and defaults could not possibly be more stupid. For example, if you are pasting something into a spreadsheet, only a clown would think the default should be paste with formatting? At least give us a “ctl-shift-V” or something like that. So stupid. Just mimic google sheets and be done with it.

If we were in the same room and I shared my experience on any given topic, would you just outright demand that I “shut up”? I’ve hardly spoken like that to anyone in my life and I guess I’m much older than you. I like to think that you had too much to drink when you replied to my comment with “Oh Shut up”. If you just had the time, energy and clarity you’d probably make a great, persuasive argument that I would have no choice but to consider and probably even integrate into my perspective. Here’s to you gaining that time, energy and clarity.

No thank you

There’s a flip side to this. I am persistent. But busy, and a realist. Since AI, I have been able to accomplish things I always wanted and planned to, but never got done before. I’ve been wanting a contractor’s license to expand my business. But I’m busy. AI is the tutor that helped me get it done. I’ve been loving Linux and open source, had a handful of raspberry Pi projects, but was never quite confident enough to go full on self hosted. Thanks to AI, I am fully self hosted and loving it. Also, I own a service business, time is money. Guess who has more time since AI? Define persistence in the context of my experience with AI. Put in other synonymous terms, am I faltering, yielding, “going fallow”, atrophying? I don’t think so.

That’s not true. For less than $15k and a high electricity bill, you can train and run very powerful AI models yourself, today. And you have broad choices of which open weight model to run. And it’s easy to switch them out. No “they” in the mix at all
Sure. You’ll get no objections from me.
