For solar, a datacenter would require 7.5 million square feet of solar panels and around 2 gigawatt-hours of battery capacity to survive a year completely off grid, and that’s in perfect conditions.
Though it could be done with 11-12 3.4MW onshore wind turbines…
the “Average” datacenter requires 10Megawatts of power to run… That’s not taking into account that AI datacenters run 10-12x more power…
Nano-Nuclear is probably the best option for any of these…it’s constant, the fuel rods last decades, and it’s not weather dependent… Though I’d still have the batteries in the mix because no power source is 100% reliable.

Now do the Epstein files. ;-)

Valid point… And yes, Onstar is a huge vulnerability…as is pointed out in every movie where a car gets hacked for one reason or another. ;-)
I’m a ford guy, and in my Mustang, the Sync unit is unplugged, because fuck Sync.

Tesla has the biggest “network” of connected vehicles
No they don’t, their market share of all cars sold globally within the last decade is far from the biggest.
I think I mean they have the largest percentage of their cars that are connected to the same homebase… Like…all of them.

74 million people voted for Trump. They’re the ones.
But they’re also the reason I avoid Tesla’s in traffic… It might be the car, it might be the driver, but it’s a safe bet that something stupid is going to happen.

My son tried to do that in his 2023 Supra…his fucking ignition key stopped working. Apparently they tied a bunch of critical functions through the TCU to make it irreplacable.
Fuckers.

Tesla has the biggest “network” of connected vehicles, and are hated and despised by many so are a likely first target…
Though you’re right, and I won’t own any internet connected car, regardless of make, model, gender, or method of propulsion. Hell I don’t even drive an Automatic Transmission.

I’ve been saying this for a decade… I refuse to own an internet connected car…it’s only a matter of time before someone gets into Tesla’s system and makes every Tesla on the planet turn left…

They idea of putting data-centers in Texas astounds me… Hurricanes on the gulf, and tornadoes throughout make it a horrible place for computing…
Add that to the fact that their power grid is held to gether with duct-tape and bailing wire… There’s gonna be a lot of generators running a lot of the time…

Well that will shut a lot of MAGA bots up…

I’m beyond giving a fuck what’s best for corporations.

The problem is they’re not managing the training data. There is no one sitting there making sure all the data that gets retained for training is “good” data, they’re just expecting everything it sees to be “good” data.
Just like the data hoovered up from the internet that was used to build the models wasn’t vetted either, which is why AI goes wrong SO often…

Exactly this. These fucking companies use H1B’s to hire 40k workers for 80k jobs…the problem is, they end up getting 40K workers trying to do jobs they’re largely not qualified to do, but since we have no real way of vetting them, they come in with a ‘fake it until you make it’ mentality…

Only if one of those qualifications is “willing to work for peanuts”
There are plenty of qualified people in the US willing to do the work, but companies don’t want to pay us what we’re worth.

I’d rather have one employee per register, not one employee managing 8 registers… Because when something goes wrong, you’re standing around with your thumb-up your ass waiting until someone comes to check your ID or fix whatever went wrong…
Besides, I like employing people, especially people who need the employment and don’t have access to careers that require an education. Everyone needs the ability to work, and part of that is making sure there are jobs…

Those are great entry-level jobs I’d rather not be eliminated… People > Computers in all ways.

I had someone at target try to direct me to the self checkout… I politely declined with “I don’t work here”
If I’m doing the work, I should damn well get the employee discount.
Oh fuck no.
