Yeah, I don’t have patience to type if it’s not a real keyboard. Swiping is what I’ve done for years on my Android phones.

They clearly don’t mean as a whole forever forward or in the past, but this one situation was basically saved.

Privatized gains, socialized losses

I’ve hosted websites since 1997, and for the last decade, I’ve given up fighting just that. I use - and this is not an ad, but is an endorsement - mxroute to handle that. They handle fighting blacklists so I don’t have to worry about it.
Glad to explain more if wanted, but it’s pretty simple to set up - as long as you control your DNS.

I use mxroute. In my case, I’m able to specify an SMTP connection to use for forum registrations, so I set up noreply.[domain.ext] and pointed the MX records to mxroute. You can use the cheapest plan which IIRC used to be $10/yr if you caught a discount (locked in price).
One of the nice things is that they detect email addresses used to spam signups, so it won’t even send an email - which means they can’t confirm the account.
But also, emails via mxroute don’t end up in spam in my experience.
All that said, doesn’t prevent account creation, just emails in spam and account confirmation.
If that’s not useeful, my apologies and do ignore me :)

The friend must remain unharmed!
Your comment is slop. Not AI slop. Just slop.

That’s a very interesting take. Gmail has always had one of the better spam filters in my experience. I absolutely remember when common wisdom was that if you were inundated with spam, one way to help was to forward email to a gmail box and have its spam filters run on it.
Even today, I see very few false positives and false negatives.
YMMV of course.

It is unclear which servers are covered. The draft adopts the definition of a social network from the Digital Markets Act. Its Recital 11 clarifies that it concerns “information society services,” which EU law defines as services generally provided for remuneration. Whether a private, non-commercial hobby server falls under this depends on the legal classification of the specific offering. The statement that every instance without exception is covered is therefore an overstatement.

My wife asked me why I carry a gun around the house. I said, ‘Decepticons.’ We laughed, the toaster laughed. I shot the toaster. Good times.

Denied health care unless you consent to being recorded. How is that legal?
It’s not an ER, it’s a voluntary request for medical services. And case in point, they found another provider.
Oh, do you think by explaining it I agree with it? I do not. But that it the simple legal reality.

Funny when the article itself contradicts the breathless clickbait headline.
That said, perhaps this will apply and cause problems. Or perhaps not.

You’d think that all these firewalls in the U.S. could block Russian traffic.
You’d think people would figure out that’s why they use western VPSs and residential connections to have the bots post the things they want posted.
Russia isn’t a national security issue
Russia most certainly is a national security issue.
I think more of our threats come from inside the house, as it were, but do not think for a moment that Russia is not a threat.

Of course companies collect data about their customers and try to use it. This is nothing new.

Ye’s, grocer’s everywhere appreciate 'saving the apo’strophe’s for their u’se. :)

Eh… In general, I can’t agree. And on this specific topic, I can’t agree either - I saw this on reddit just as much.
In fact, one of the reasons I hate it even more on Lemmy is that the general level of discourse is somewhat better here. Mostly. :P lol

And notably, most of the actual news articles, even from the start, admitted that there wasn’t any proof if you actually read the articles. They were all “People are saying there’s a drop!” but farther down it was all “There’s no evidence it’s happening, but people are saying!!!”
You know Gboard uses all your typing history to make suggestions, right?
(just teasing you)
