  • Buddy…

Because people expect a seamless experience?

    You want a seamless experience…

And I already told you what to do for that:

Go there, none of us care

If that’s what anyone here wanted, they wouldn’t be here…

Why does one place not being how you want it, mean that it should change to be like everywhere else? And especially when you seemingly don’t want to go to any of the many options that are already like that?

Do you legitimately not understand the responses this is getting?

If you don’t like it, go back to reddit. But you’re not going to convince anyone on the fediverse that the fediverse should be more like reddit. The few people that would agree with you, have already made these same posts, gotten the same responses, and went back to reddit.

How are you surprised the people who stay here like it?

  • Just look at Lemmy and how many communities defederate from one another because of ideological disagreements

    Lol…

Decentralizing isn’t good if you want everyone in the same spot, that is correct…

But why does everyone need crammed together?

Some people just don’t vibe, if no one wants to federate with an instance, they don’t have to.

I’ll never understand why people who grew up with big social media are so hung up up on this idea that one platform has to host everyone.

Like, a shit ton of fractured forums was the norm for decades, long before Facebook, twitter, or insta. Everyone going to the same place is a new thing, and if people are here it’s because they didn’t think it worked out.

You don’t, you think it’s great for insanely wealthy tech ros to control every conversation.

    Cool.

Go there, none of us care

  • Congrats bud.

You kept going long enough I’ll never try to clarify anything for you again, every single reply you make to one of my comments from here on out will not receive any further clarification and you’ll always believe it’s 100% correct.

It won’t be, but I won’t see it to tell you that anymore.

    So you win, enjoy it.

    Edit:

    2-0 bud!

Apparently I blocked your original account already, the streak continues

  • because I don’t even know what those words are supposed to mean.

How many websites about Pokemon do you think are archived?

How much of that info is duplicative (meaning it exists multiple times)?

If 2 gigs of data all says charmander evolves into charazard, why is that worth more than a single text string saying it once?

You haven’t asked any questions either

    I already understand it…

You don’t even know what “duplicative” means, and were too lazy to even look it up, you just wanted to argue about how your opinion matters more than facts.

    marked by duplication

  • Sounds like the only real problem is all those jackass “deletionists”…

If an article is so niche no one ever looks at it, then it eats up zero bandwidth. Just the data storage for a small text file.

Nothing should ever be deleted, there’s no fucking benefit to that

If they weren’t acting up, then activity dying down wouldn’t matter

It’s the biggest repository of human knowledge ever, it existing and being freely accessible to the planet is massive.

  • Nobody can even agree on a concrete definition of consciousness

    I agree with myself…

Nobody can ever agree on _____

    Isn’t a logically sound statement.

Not everyone can agree on _____

Is logical, but means nothing because a single flat earther means we can’t all agree the earth is round

    I thought that was obvious…

Lots of people can’t agree on a different definition. Is there a different definitions then by it’s very nature people do not agree.

But you clearly don’t understand the difference…

  • Under the deal, Zuckerberg will receive new shares that could be sold to potentially foot a multibillion-dollar tax bill in the event that California passes a one-off billionaire tax. In return, he is committed to remain a resident of the state, or wherever Meta maintains its base, for eight years

    Cool…

So we can do another “one time” wealth tax again the next 7 years and lil zuck the duck is locked in?

Billionaires wealth and their companies assets have been interchangeable for a long time, just keep fucking take it back from either of them, it accomplishes the same thing.

We just can’t stop with the one off.

  • Google argued that it was only summarising other people’s pages, the same defence that has long protected search engines in Germany. The court disagreed. AI Overviews, it said, do not just show links but make “independent, new and substantive statements” built by evaluating and combining third-party sites, so Google must treat them as its own, including as the provider of an AI system under the EU’s AI Act. “Only it has influence over the AI,” the judges wrote.

It doesn’t summarize, to summarize something you first need to understand what it says and even what it means.

AI in it’s current form doesn’t understand the meaning of anything, just the statistical chance of what the next word should be.

Al it’s doing is paraphrasing, shuffling words around just enough to claim it doesn’t owe the original writer anything.

Most of us learned why that was unacceptable in jr high English; it’s plagiarism if done correctly and nonsense if not.

Google and other AI corps want to play it both ways, they want to reuse information for free while not being accountable for what it says. If they’re not accountable because it’s not their information, why aren’t they paying the people who created the information?

  • The great part about this happening to the wealthy, is people are reporting on it…

If a data center goes near you, that means they use up all the utilities, so your taxes pay for more to be installed.

Then once they’re installed, that’s the best place for a new data center, until there aren’t utilities again.

Which means humans pay more taxes, utilities get built up again, and more data centers move in.

It’ll keep going till there’s not enough humans to pay for more infrastructure to be installed, then it will repeat in the next community.

There’s only “jobs” installing the utilities and building the centers, once it’s built they only need a handful of humans to run them. No jobs and a shit ton of data centers means housing prices plummet. Especially if the houses are expensive because that’s what the people making money wanted. No one wants a luxury home surrounded by data centers.
