“I used the stones to destroy the stones.”

Wow. Yeah, fuck Sony. Seems they’ve always been in a race to the bottom. Now their insistance on a digital-only future makes so much more sense. They want to control any and all access to their products and don’t want them changing hands IRL.

Yep, and like the dot-com bubble, businesses have tied themselves too closely with AI to the point it’ll be harder to backtrack and pull out than with the dot-com boom. At least word of mouth and having a website were easily separable from the business end. Having a website and integrating AI into your website and your business is a whole different story.

Ironfox is all green for me.
Cromite is half red, half green.
So yeah, fuck Chromium’s monopoly.

many companies have been doing the “you just get a license but don’t own the thing you purchased” thing for a long time. Sony is just currently the company that is getting the most attention for it.
Because Sony decided to explicitly jump the gun and declare the future of video games as “digital only”. Yeah, Nintendo, XBOX and even Steam have declared their digital games to be “licenses”, but at least with the first two, there’s still the option of physical disks/cartridges (for now. I really don’t trust Nintendo not to pull something like this due to the Game-Key Card nonsense), and with Steam, AFAIK, you can easily back up the downloaded software.

My friend gave me an ASRock Extreme4 Z97 motherboard. I’m gonna try putting CachyOS on it and see how it runs games. That’ll be my own Steam Machine if it meets my performance expectations.

If buying ain’t owning…

lol. lmao even.

I’m sure if more people learned about how computers work, AI wouldn’t be a thing because they’d realize that computing-based tasks can already be automated without LLMs.

So, y’all gonna switch to GrapheneOS now?
I give 'em 11 minutes.
