I can’t imagine killing a hippopotamus with a knife. I don’t care if it’s sleeping well after I attempt to attack it. One result, every time.
Now I’m imagining a far more dangerous monster, several times larger and faster. Yeah, it’s just not a weapon in my mind.

2·10 days agoBy the time I left reddit I couldn’t remember the last time I had a conversation there. I started a personal rule on reddit where if the top comment was “It’s almost as if…” I would just close the tab and move on.
Whatever followed would be the laziest brain rot. And people voted it to the top.

21·10 days agoReddit was already gaining a lot of clout as a public platform. Around that time was when Bannon leveraged reddit influence to drive the Bernie bros and incels to Trump.
I’m guessing that’s when the world stage really took notice of reddit as a tool for political influence.

24·10 days agoReddit was already a shell of itself before AI. I stuck around too long because I didn’t quite like Lemmy when I tried during the API exodus. I eventually left when they started forcing logins. By that time I hadn’t realized just how much the community had degraded till I came here.
It’s like I forgot what online discourse felt like before corporate tentacles strangled reddit. Even the stupid arguments make more sense, and that seems impossible.
It’s so incredibly shallow, from a series already suffering from such.

Yeah, the thing about parents in this case is that if the solutions isn’t easy as fuck then they’re going to give up immediately and go get whatevers at best buy.
