Don’t know if you’ll jive with it but usually with RPGs I’ll do a blind first playthrough then in a month or two I’ll go back and do a playthrough with a simple flowchart checklist to get all the content. Unless it’s classic Fallout, I don’t need the checklist anymore, now give me a minute so I can forget the Khan’s and Klamath exist.

Technology@lemmy.world•Tech stocks set to wipe out more than $1 trillion as concerns deepen about the AI boomEnglish
1·17 hours agoThanks for correcting and adding to my statement on how severe this whole thing is, I have it in my head but I’m a bit shit at elaboration. Also I knew it was one of the big three but I couldn’t remember if it was Ford or GM.

Technology@lemmy.world•Tech stocks set to wipe out more than $1 trillion as concerns deepen about the AI boomEnglish
2·18 hours agoOh I got what you meant I just disagree. My point was that AI is a money burning party with nothing to show unlike basically any other industry, even if you bail them out once they’ll likely need to be bailed out again by the next quarter since they don’t really have a product to sell. Not even getting into all the debt a lot of these companies have or any future contracts that have been signed.
Point is even if they are bailed out it will amount to doing a blood transfusion on someone with an actively bleeding artery. They are far more likely to wipe everything else out than succeed, though I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the end goal for dipshits like Thiel. Maybe it’s a weird but of optism but I can’t quite see enough congresscritters siding with that since basically all of them gain their power through the government and the current economic systems continued existence.

7·19 hours agoElder Gen Z here, nah I prefer twenty plus you sub-sapient profligate. You can do such glorious things with CRTs, also it doesn’t do things it’s not supposed to technically any tech is supposed to break due to entropy.

Technology@lemmy.world•Tech stocks set to wipe out more than $1 trillion as concerns deepen about the AI boomEnglish
5·20 hours agoThey can’t really bail them out like they did in 08. Just to compare Ford to OpenAI for sake of my argument. The collapse of Ford risked not only losing a company but also the institutional knowledge within on top of the fact that Ford itself could eventually pay off the loan which isn’t even getting into other benefits, for comparison what does the collapse of OpenAI risk beyond some edge case nonsense hell could they even pay off a loan. Trying to bail out the AI industry would be dead on arrival by default, the best you may be able to do is downsize them massively and maybe make them profitable via specialized sub industries but yet again that risks them collapsing regardless.

3·2 days agoYodas dialect is just old as dirt and it shifts in and out depending on how much of ass he is being. Presumably much like real accents and dialects it probably gets noticeably thicker the higher he is, for example I have a weird mix of dialects from my region so when tired enough I sound like a Okie with a brogue thrown in.

Technology@lemmy.world•Man granted first-of-its-kind religious exemption against mandatory AI use at workEnglish
7·2 days agoHonestly I don’t necessarily mind giving religious exceptions since it’s part of culture which is the lifeblood of mankind, with the obvious asterisk that you shouldn’t initiate harm on your fellow man. My problem is that secular elements of culture are oft ignored for some fucken reason. In this essay I will explain why I a bloodthirsty redneck should be allowed to scalp Elon Musk for entirely acceptable cultural reasons.

2·8 days agoMy ideal world is that but we immediately also start to undermine the Chinese as well through decentralized production and logistics so good it makes over seas shipping too expensive. Mind you I want that for the entire world, you cannot fathom the arousal I feel at the idea of a Trans-Berringia trains bridge to connect the logistics of the old and new world, also the Trans-African rail should be completed to such an extent that goods in the Congo are as cheap as goods in LA.

4·12 days agoThose two, it’s just that the Visagoths are the first to come to mind when thinking of over centralized structures. Fuckers fell like wet cardboard to the Muslims as soon as their king died, the only hold out being the more autonomous mountainous regions in the North of Iberia.

Technology@lemmy.world•Big Tech will not broadcast your dissentEnglish
8·12 days agoCentralized systems are a failure point. Ask the Visagoths how well it worked.

I think it depends on the game, for example Fallout 2 kinda does this. The earliest 10mm pistol is found in a cave under Klamath just on the ground with which it blends in, but you can highlight it with a button press. Similarly some good shit is hidden in weird corners of KOTOR 1 & 2 but those games are linear enough that a random path teaches you that there’s probably something to do.
