But if as you say, I don’t get to choose how the technology is used, then there is good moral reason to not be glad when its action happens to align with your intent. After all, we are glad for fair weather every once in a while.

I’m just waiting for the communities I’m in to move from Reddit hopefully to the Fediverse, and it’ll be goodbye for good.

In the meantime tho, I intend for my account to continue to be somewhat useful while at the same time not really a good marketing data point. I intend to offer RaaS (“Reddit as a Service”) where people who don’t have accounts / can’t log in can ask me to fetch the text of a given post that I find to be of good interest. Crossposting the content from Reddit to here would help to keep the intended conversation alive, without needing Jailbait Spez as an intermediary.

I keep an eye on some communities to find when do they move over to fediverse or to classic forums. it ain’t much, but it’s honest waiting.

You could share that link as normal and people could click it and be directed to the thing you want to share, but they can’t view the content without logging in, and even if they don’t log in, the mere fact that they clicked it still links the two of you together in the user map.
