Battery tech has been there for at least half a decade. Many of Australia’s houses have solar (so much so that we have too much of it during the day so it’s free), and an ever increasing number have batteries. Many don’t need to use grid power ever. It’s not hard. The problem has been fixed.
As more EVs do V2G connections, that will get even less demand. The grid of the future is becoming a lot more decentralised and based off solar and batteries
Who says I was making a global statement? I was talking about Australia as a specific example. Let’s not be reading things that aren’t there now.
However, countries that have access to vast areas of sunlight, like those in naturally desert or savannah biomes could and should use solar as an option - and even those that don’t, should supplement their power production with it too. If every roof had solar worldwide, be that home or warehouse/factory, it’d be a huge reduction in the amount of electricity that needed to be provided by a centralised electricity provider.

Quite a broad statement to make globally.
