Digital K9s for all the officers!

Digital K9s for all the officers!

Don’t need an AI to notice that.

The ram, energy, pollution, etc. is the real direct danger for everyone including those of use that avoid LLMs. The data collection is also a danger for the users, and only tangentally a danger for the rest of us.

That has already been happening for years.

Fucking android auto at one point offered to summarize my text messages.
I don’t think AI can summarize ‘ok’.

The devil just wanted people to think for themselves!
That is the opposite of Zuck.

So continue to ignore it like I always have?
Done!

I’ll bet this is another “AI found a known vulnerability so people are making a big deal about it” like the PHP one.

Time is a flat circle.

AI does not have memories.
It has a comparatively small context window that makes things worse the more it fills up.

Unlike reviewing a human who writes code there is zero chance of AI learning from the past and making fewer mistakes in the future. At a least a human has a chance of becoming better at coding from review feedback.

Bots and trolls are a very different thing than a human having multiple accounts.
Even if creating an account was limited to a single individual human, they could still run it with a bot full time or partially. Or they could get the identities of people not on the fediverse to set up bot accounts. Trolling rarely includes creating multiple accounts, and they would have the same options to create accounts for people not on the fediverse.
This approach won’t results in platform where you aren’t being manipulated by bots and trolls, but would make things worse for everyone else.

Centralizing authentication means someone gets to control access to the whole fediverse, which would be pretty fucking awful if anyone like .ml team was running authentication and had the power to easily deny anyone whose opinions they didn’t like.

Imo it would be awesome if every person could have only one single account. Bans and restrictions have much more impact which forces users to behave more like irl.
No it wouldn’t be awesome, it would be fucking awful. Admins and mods don’t need more impact than they already have which is just cleaning up their own instances and communities without having any impact on someone doing things elsewhere. That is the whole point of federation and not replicating the centralized one account per person approach that reddit and similar corporate implementations have.

Apparently I didn’t find them memorable.

Annnnd theeeeennnn?
Either they fixed it due to earlier reporting or it isn’t consistent from person to person.
I don’t usually use google so I had to go to google.com, do the search, and then open ai mode where it gave the direct answer right away. Location is in the center of continental US.
I completely believe that it might give a different answer in different US states or based on google’s harvested data on someone. Using LLMs to look up factual information is such a shitshow.
